Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to my FAQ page, your resource for answers to commonly asked questions.

Whether you're considering therapy for the first time or have a few specific questions about how I work, this page offers clear answers to help you feel more informed and at ease.

General FAQ

Absolutely. You don't need to have a clear goal, timeline, or even the right words. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck or unsure — that's often why they reach out. We'll begin wherever you are, and take it from there, together.

No — you don't need a diagnosis to begin therapy. Many of the people I work with simply know that something feels difficult, overwhelming, or stuck, and they want support. That's enough.

I work in a non-pathologising way, which means I focus on understanding you as a whole person — not reducing your experience to a label or checklist.

That said, if you've been given a diagnosis like anxiety, depression, or something else, we can absolutely work with that. You're welcome here with or without a formal diagnosis — and we'll shape our work around what feels most helpful to you.

I offer a free 15-minute phone or online call so we can get a feel for each other. You can share a bit about what's going on, ask questions, and see if it feels like a good fit — no pressure to decide on the spot.

The first session is gentle and collaborative. There's no expectation to share everything all at once — we'll go at your pace. I'll ask a few questions to understand what's bringing you in, and we'll start shaping the kind of support that feels right for you.

Yes — I offer both. We can work open-endedly, or in a focused block of 6 sessions (which works well for goal-based support). You're welcome to start one way and adapt later if needed.

The relationship matters more than any specific method. If you feel safe, understood, and like you can be yourself — that's a really good sign you're in the right place.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can get a sense of what it's like to talk with me. If you're still not sure how to choose the right person to work with, this article I wrote shares some helpful things to look out for.

Trauma Therapy

That's incredibly common. Trauma can feel like a tangle of memories, emotions, or even things you can't fully name yet. There's no pressure to organise it all before you come. We'll take it gently — starting with what feels safe, and working at your pace.

No — you're always in control of what you share and when. Trauma therapy isn't about re-telling every painful detail. We'll focus on what feels safe and manageable for you, at your own pace.

That can be really disheartening — and it happens more often than you'd think. Many clients come to me after experiences that felt too surface-level, too fast, or simply not trauma-informed. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and shaped around your needs. We can talk honestly about what you need from therapy, and what hasn't worked before.

Not at all. If you're feeling the impact of something painful or overwhelming — even if it happened years ago — that's enough. You don't need a label or official diagnosis for your experience to matter. If something feels off, you deserve support.

I specialise in supporting women who've experienced childhood emotional or sexual abuse, neglect, or sexual assault in adulthood — whether recent or many years ago. If you've been left carrying pain, shame, or disconnection from these kinds of experiences, this space is here for you. We work gently, at your pace, with no pressure to share everything all at once.

You don't have to figure it all out alone.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something to shift.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation, with no pressure to commit.
