What Is Short-Term Therapy?

Short-term therapy is a collaborative, goal-focused approach that helps you make progress in a defined number of sessions — usually 6 or 8.

Instead of digging endlessly into the past, we focus on what's most relevant to you now. We'll explore your strengths, clarify what matters, and work together to move towards what “better” looks like — even if you're not quite sure what that is yet.

I draw on tools from ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), and CBT where helpful — always keeping things gentle, respectful, and led by you.

When Is Short-Term Therapy a Good Fit?

This kind of therapy can be especially helpful if you're feeling stuck in a cycle of overthinking or avoidance, struggling with boundaries or confidence, or finding that stress, low mood, or people-pleasing are starting to take a toll. It can also support you through a life change, a specific dilemma, or when you want to focus on one area — with a clear sense of when the work begins and ends.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you start. Just a sense that something needs to shift — and a willingness to explore what might help — is more than enough.

How I Work With Short-Term Therapy

This is a space where we focus on what's possible. Rather than analysing your history in detail, we'll explore what's happening now, what you want to be different, and how we can move toward that — one small step at a time.

Our sessions are collaborative, structured, and supportive. You don't need to show up with a plan. We'll work together to clarify your priorities and build momentum, using the approaches that feel most useful for you.

I offer short-term therapy in blocks of 6 or 8 weekly sessions, giving us a clear container to work within. If you'd like to continue afterwards, we can review and decide together what feels right next.

Short-Term Therapy

Not sure if short-term therapy is right for you? Here are a few common questions I'm often asked about how it works.

That's totally fine. You don't need to have a clear goal at the start — just a sense that something feels stuck or difficult. We can work together to explore what matters and what kind of change might feel meaningful to you.

I offer short-term therapy in blocks of 6 or 8 weekly sessions. These create a clear and supportive structure for working through a specific issue or area of focus. After the block, we can review together and decide if you'd like to continue.

Yes — we can talk about anything that feels relevant to you. While the focus is usually on what's happening now and where you want things to shift, the past often shows up naturally. You're always in control of what we explore.

It can be — especially if there's a specific area you want to focus on or a pattern you'd like to shift. For deeper or more long-standing difficulties, we can also explore a more flexible or ongoing approach after the initial block.
